Salary and Responsibilities

Enrolled PhD candidates usually work as teaching or research assistants to cover their costs of living. The typical monthly salary corresponds to roughly 3750 CHF in the first year and increases over the subsequent years.

While teaching assistants are financed by the faculty, the head of the Department of Economics determines, in a centralized manner, their teaching duties. The duties of a research assistant are determined by the professor responsible for obtaining the funds for the position.

Tuition Fees

PhD students are subject to a one-time fee of CHF 200.- in their first semester and a repeated fee of CHF. 80.- in each subsequent semester. These amounts may be subject to changes.
