Would you like to study a Bachelor or Master programme at UNIL? This section is for you. UNIL has more than 4,000 international students in its seven faculties. Once you are admitted by the Registration Department (SII), it will be time to prepare your arrival and stay in Lausanne. The following sections provide information on visa, residence permit, insurance and other practical aspects of your studies in Lausanne.

New students enrolled in Bachelor courses are invited to a welcome day on the Friday preceding the September academic year, during which they can become familiar with the various services at their disposal and student associations. They will receive an invitation a few weeks before the start of the academic year.

International students who do not speak French and who are starting a Master program at UNIL are invited to a special English-language welcome session organized by the Social Affairs and Student Mobility office. (SASME). It is a very good opportunity for them to get to know their new university in a pleasant setting. These students also receive an invitation a few weeks before this event, which is held the week before the start of the academic year.

Finally, the UNIL offers each year a dozen Masters scholarship for international students who want to carry out a Master programme in one of its faculties. You will find more information about these grants under the page entitled "UNIL Master's grants".
