The UCI Bike City Label – supporting the growth of cycling for sport, leisure and mobility
The Union Cycliste Internationale’s (UCI) mission is to develop and promote cycling as a competitive sport, as a healthy recreational activity and as a sustainable means of transport. The UCI Bike City label recognises cities and regions which not only host major UCI cycling events, but also demonstrate outstanding commitment to cycling for all. In 2021, it was awarded to the city of Wollongong (Australia) which, in addition to hosting the 2022 UCI Road World Championships, launched its “Cycling Strategy 2030” and set out an ambitious 10-year vision where cycling is a preferred transport option.
