In the presentation, we will take a close look at some frequently used social media apps in China. Wechat, QQ, Weibo, Little Red Book, Bilibili, Douyin (Tik Tok) … These apps take up a big part of the time Chinese spend on their phone. What are they? What are the user profiles like? Are there any functions that we cannot find a counterpart in the common social media and what are the underlying cultural difference? We will try to answer the questions and present you with a real picture from the view of a Chinese college student.
