The [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference is the flagship scientific meeting of the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, held every two years. As Switzerland's leading event in Computational Biology and one of the largest of its kind in Europe, [BC]² attracts around 500 scientists from academia, industry, and healthcare. Attendees explore cutting-edge advancements in bioinformatics, ranging from evolutionary and environmental dynamics to infectious diseases, cancer research, protein design, single-cell omics, and AI-driven innovations in clinical data science.

The 2025 edition, themed "Bioinformatics meets AI: shaping the future of data-driven biology" will take place as an in-person event in Basel. The programme will feature inspiring keynote lectures, thematic tracks, and a special session dedicated to the SIB recognition programmes, such as the SIB Bioinformatics Awards and SIB Remarkable Outputs, celebrating excellence in computational biology.

Highlights include a session on industry research trends, offering companies a platform to showcase their latest advancements and engage with the scientific community. The conference will also feature one day dedicated to hands-on workshops and tutorials, two interactive poster sessions, and ample networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and connection in a friendly and dynamic atmosphere.

[BC]2 will host six main sessions:

  • Bioinformatics for cancer research
  • Bioinformatics in infectious diseases: tackling challenges from hosts to pathogens
  • Clinical data science: advancements in diagnostics and patient care
  • Computational methods for single-cell and spatial omics: from data to biological insights
  • Integrative bioinformatics for evolutionary and environmental processes
  • Protein design and modeling molecular assemblies: breakthroughs and applications in computational structural biology

The International Society for Biocuration (ISB) is offering limited number of travel fellowships for participants whose works is enabled by biocuration or contributes to it. This initiative highlights the essential role of biocuration in ensuring the accessibility and quality of data that drive discoveries in the field.
