Conference on intersectional dynamics of racialization and gender-based disenfranchisement experienced by minorities in Europe.
This conference examines the intersectional dynamics of racialization and gender-based disenfranchisement experienced by minorities in Europe. Through interdisciplinary perspectives (law, sociology, anthropology, history), controbutors will analyze past and current forms of institutional and everyday discrimination (racial profiling, anti-veil legislation, etc.) and their impact on racial minorities' daily lives. Using an intersectional approach, the conference will address the combined processes of racialization and gendered othering (exclusion from feminist movements, marginalized masculinities, etc.), with particular attention to gendered Islamophobia.
