Mriganka Mukhopadhyay is a PhD candidate at the HHP (History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents), University of Amsterdam. He studied History at Kolkata and New Delhi before beginning his doctoral research in the field of Western Esotericism in Amsterdam. He is interested in the intellectual and cultural histories of colonial India and their global entanglements, history of modern Hinduism, modern Buddhism in South Asia, and in the academic study of occultism and esotericism. For his doctoral research, Mukhopadhyay is working on the Theosophical movement in colonial Bengal and the role of the Bengali Theosophists in the global history of occultism. Among other things, he is the co-founder of OSAN (Occult South Asia Network) and the Student Representative at the Board of ESSWE (European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism).
