Odense Cycle City – A Vision Comes True, and: Is cycling worth the money?

In this seminar, two speakers will tell about their experiences. Troels Andersen (Odense Municipality) will explain how Odense was able to leverage the political will to decide for the change for a more cyclable city. What were the opportunities, what was the plan, what became reality, and what were the obstacles in this 125-year long process?

What would Odense do differently, given the lessons learned, and where is Odense now and what are the plans for the future?

Jens Troelsen (University of Southern Denmark) will then present what was measured, before, during and after the major changes. In what ways has the Odense cycling project had an impact on public health? What are the lessons learned?

What are the main lessons that can be shared with other cities?
