The OUVEMA (Observatory for cycling and active mobilities) organises a seminar series on cycling policies of different European cities. In the next seminar, Martin Blum (Mobilitätsagentur Wien) presents Vienna's cycling policies.

Active Mobility in Vienna. Strategies and measures with a special focus on cycling
Vienna is among the most livable cities in the world. The city set itself ambitious mobility goals for the future. Walking, public transportation and cycling are expected to increase strongly up to 2030 and beyond, having implications on their respective infrastructures.
In recent years, numerous steps have been taken towards this transformation: the redesign of main shopping streets, parklets, cycle paths on main streets, expansion of parking space management and much more.
Martin Blum, representative for cycling matters of the city of Vienna and director of the city’s mobility agency reports what these measures brought, what was learned and what conclusions were drawn for future strategies.
Vienna, in the heart of Europe, will be more severely affected by higher temperatures due to climate change. This also means adaptation measures in public spaces. How can more trees, cooling streets and a redesign for cycling and walking be tackled together to make Vienna even more livable in the future?
