Vilfredo Pareto and Adam Smith

The seminar will mark the century of Vilfredo Pareto's death and the tercentenary of Adam Smith's birth in two ways. First, by presenting a brief account of Pareto's views on Smith's political economy. Second, by comparing Pareto's treatment of sentiment, action and utility in his sociology with Smith's treatment of the same issues in The Theory of Moral Sentiments.
