Learnings from the foehn storm of March 2024 in Romandie

Between Thursday, March 28th and Sunday March 31st, a strong foehn storm, associated with a deep through over western Europe, blew through the Swiss Alps. The strong pressure gradient allowed for the wind to blow down the Rhone valley all the way to the waters of lake Geneva. With both Cosmo and Icon models still running at the time, this presents a perfect opportunity to analyze the robustness of a wind forecast in Romandie under such circumstances.
