DNF seminar
Abstract:
Research Area: The Emery lab studies how biological clocks allow organisms to adapt their physiology and behaviors with their ever-changing environment. We primarily work with Drosophila to understand how the sleep/wake cycle is regulated by the circadian clock and environmental conditions. In addition, we have recently developed the crustacean Parhyale hawaiensis as a genetically tractable model to understand how marine animals keep track of tides and adapt their behavior to a complex combination of 24-h and 12.4-h environmental cycles.
