HEC Lausanne has got talent – June 2024

Discover those in the HEC Lausanne (UNIL) community - students, researchers, teachers or staff - who have been honored or celebrated recently.

For this edition, a big congratulations to:

  • Virginie Lurkin, Professor in the Department of Operations and Marc-Olivier Boldi, Lecturer, who have been honored by the Dean's Office with the HEC Lausanne Community Commitment Award 2024. This new award was created to recognize professors or lecturers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the faculty.
     
  • Hrvoje Kurtović, lecturer and researcher in the Department of Finance, who won the “Best Paper Award” at the European conference of the Financial Management Association (FMA), one of the largest finance associations in the world. His paper “Disagreement of Disagreement”, distinguished in the "Asset Pricing & Investments" category, was selected from over 700 submissions. The current version of his paper has already attracted the attention of major financial institutions such as Citibank, CXO Advisory and Thales.   • Hyppolite Lefebvre, Researcher and PhD Candidate and Christine Legner, Professor in the department of Information Systems, who were awarded at the 2024 European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) for their paper "Rethinking Data Governance: A Viable System Model". Their paper was selected from nearly 1,200 submissions and won second place in the “Best Completed Paper” category.

  • Georgii Zvongha, PhD student in the Department of Finance, who won the “Best Junior Paper Award” at the 14th CEQURA Conference in Munich. His paper "Tokenization: A Potential Pathway for Bitcoin’s Future" presents tokenization as a solution to Bitcoin's limitations, particularly after the mining reward halving in April 2024. Learn more about the article
