If you have enrolled on a Master’s programme and you don't speak French, you may take part in a buddy program run together by the Social Affairs and Student Mobility Office (SASME) and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) association. If you register for such a program, you'll be guided by a UNIL student during the first weeks of your stay in Lausanne.

The student will make contact with you by e-mail before your arrival in Switzerland and you will be offered support in the following areas:

  • Administrative procedures (residence permit, health and accident insurance, etc.)
  • Practical information about life in Lausanne (opening a bank account, leisure, public transport, doctors, shopping, etc.)
  • Information about UNIL (studying for a Master’s, enrolment, regulations, secretarial services, classrooms, IT, student services, libraries, etc.)

Once enrolled at UNIL, you'll receive an email in June to enable you to register for this buddy program.
