Genre, mobilité et vulnérabilités (PRN LIVES - IP6)
2019 - 2022
Requérant·e: Nicky Le Feuvre, Eric Lavoine (Uni. Fribourg)
Autres collaborateurs-trices: F. Fassa, M. Lieber, C. Bolzman, M. Chimienti, V. Kaufman, B. Wernli, G. Mallard

2015 - 2018
Requérant·e: Nicky Le Feuvre
Autres collaborateurs-trices: L. Bachmann, E. Davoine, F. Fassa, M. Kuehni, E. Lépinard, M. Surdez, B. Wernli, S. Blanchard, I. Boni-Le Goff, M. Ernst Staehli, L. Gianettoni, G. Goastellec, V. Insarauto, M. Perrenoud, T. Rossier, N. Rougier

2010 - 2013
Requérant·e: Nicky Le Feuvre
Autres collaborateurs-trices: Morgane Kuehni, Magdalena Rosende, Céline Schoeni

DAISIE: Dynamics of Accumulated Inequalities for Seniors in Employment (N0RFACE program and network)
2018 - 2020
Requérant·e: Nicky Le Feuvre
Autres collaborateurs-trices: W. Loretto (Univ. Edinburgh), S.A. Vickerstaff (Univ. Kent), A. Krizkova (Czech Acad. of Sciences), C. Krekula (Univ. Karlstad), A. Ni Léime (National Univ. of Ireland)
The DAISIE project explores the gendered impacts of policies and practices aimed at extending working life (EWL) in five contrasting national settings (the Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK), using a mixed methods research design inspired by insights from life-course and gender studies. The project addresses two significant and timely issues: labour market participation in later life and retirement and the analysis of labour market and family trajectories.

Gendring the Academy and Research:combating Career Instability and Asymmetries
2014 - 2017  (36  mois)
Requérant·e: Le Feuvre Nicky
Autres collaborateurs-trices: Sabine Kradolfer, Farinaz Fassa, Gaële Goastellec, Maria De Rio Carral, Michaël Posse
The GARCIA Project is concerned with the implementation of actions in European Universities and research centres to promote a gender culture and combat gender stereotypes and discriminations. The project runs from February 2014 to January 2017.

By taking into account the involved organisations, but also their broader national context, this project aims to develop and maintain research potential and skills of both, women and men researchers, in order to sustain the quality of their working conditions.

Particular attention is given to the early stages of academic and scientific career. The project focuses on both, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities) disciplines to assure that the aim of transforming academia and research towards a more gender equal environment can be extended to all levels of the institution by putting into practice the best systemic organisational approaches.

Macro, meso and micro level analyses will be followed by the implementation of action plans, which are mainly directed to: gender regimes; awareness raising on gendered practices; gender equality in management and decision making; the phenomenon of Leaky Pipeline; the implicit gendered subtexts in evaluating excellence.

FEMCIT : Gender and Citizenship in a Multicultural Context : The Impact of Contemporary Women's Movements
2007 - 2011
European-funded research project coordinated by the University of Bergen (Norway), and with 15 European partners (Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Norway (x4), Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, United Kingdom (x2), Sweden (x2)).

FEMCIT explores the relationship between the changing forms and practices of gendered citizenship in a multicultural Europe and the demands and practices of contemporary women's movements. We are studying how citizenship is gendered, and how women, as ordinary citizens and activists, have been involved in challenging inequalities and injustice across Europe.

Research Integration: Changing Knowledge and Disciplinary Boundaries Through Integrative Research Methods in the Social Sciences and Humanities
2004 - 2006
European-funded project, coordinated by University of Hull (UK), with 8 partners (Germany (x2), Spain, France, Hungary, Finland, United Kingdom, Sweden).

The EC has stressed the detrimental impact of the fragmentation of the Social Sciences and Humanities on achieving a broad knowledge base, enhancement of employability and competitiveness in Europe vis-à-vis the USA and Japan (eg White Paper on Education and Training; Green Paper on Innovation). This project responds to this challenge in three ways by proposing: 1. a comparative analysis of the bases (epistemológica!, structural, fiscal etc) of this fragmentation; 2. a comparative analysis of interdisciplin ary research and its impact; 3. the development of a prototype European integrated research methods training module as one step towards overcoming the barriers between the Social Sciences and the Humanities. It thus answers topic 1.2 of Priority 7 which as ks that 'Research should analyse the forms of national, disciplinary and paradigmatic fragmentation of the social sciences and humanities in Europe and propose practicable means to overcome this fragmentation. The module proposed constitutes one such practicable means of overcoming fragmentation. Other recommendations will be made based on the findings of 1 and 2 above. As European countries are implementing the Bologna Agreement and developing new postgraduate MA/MSc degrees, this project presents a unique opportunity to develop a module that can be implemented across all European countries as part of the education reforms currently undertaken, fostering through its integrative component the opportunities for the development of new knowledge, a broad knowledge base, and the ability to adapt to changing work and research environments through the acquisition by learners/future researchers of a barrier-breaking basis in integrated research methods training.

EWSI : Employment and women's studies: the impact of women's studies training on women's employment in Europe
2001 - 2003
European-funded project, coordinated by University of Hull (UK), with 8 partners (Germany, Spain, France, Italy (x2), Hungary, Finland, United Kingdom (x2), Slovenia).

The Amsterdam Treaty identified a gap in the employment rates of women and men in Europe, resulting in the greater economic and social exclusion of women. This project addresses this gap by researching the impact of Women's Studies training on women's employment in Europe. In the last 15 years at least 100,000 women in Europe have undergone such training (SIGMA Report 1996). It is anecdotally known that their training had a significant impact on their employability, adaptability, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of equal opportunities. For this project an all-female research team from 9 European countries will for the first time systematically collect quantitative and qualitative scientific data on these impacts to understand the impact of that training on their employment.

Advanced Training Network « Women in European Universities »
2000 - 2003
European research training network, coordinated by the University of Münster (Germany), together with 7 European partners (Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom).

GREYSHADES - Negotiating Age Norms, Class and Gender in the time of Pension Reform
2020 - 2024
The overall research question in the GREYSHADES project is; how do age norms change in the light of population ageing and changing incentive structures? Age norms are defined as widely shared beliefs about what individuals ought to do at different ages, including - but not limited to - beliefs about the proper work exit age. The background is the pension reform, effective from 2011, which gives employees strong incentives to work longer while reducing incentives for employers to retain them. Based on existing literature, we hypothesise that age norms vary by gender and social class, and that they are social in nature and influenced by social interaction as well as by societal and political change. We intend to study norms that managers and employees hold, as well as norms that employees feel exposed to, and how these translate into behaviours, practices and, ultimately, seniors ́ desire to remain employed. We will utilise a mixed-methods approach, combining repeated cross-sectional surveys among managers and panel surveys among employees with a case study in workplaces. This set-up allows us
to examine how managers ́ approach to senior workers has changed over time, and how senior workers ́ experiences in the workplace and retirement intentions change. The case study will allow for more in-depth analyses of workplaces with varying gender balance and skills requirements. We will approach 5-6 workplaces with different compositions of high-skilled / low-skilled workers, and with different gender balances. We have established contact with the Centre for Senior Policy, to maintain contact with stakeholders throughout the project, and with the Norface-funded DAISIE-project, to ensure high quality and the potential for international comparisons.

WOMAN - Quel genre de managers avant 45 ans ? Faits et discours dans quatre pays européens
2017 - 2021
Organisme subventionnaire: ANR  (France)
