Transition Acceleration Fund

Do you have an idea for a project to accelerate the ecological transition in your entity, department or faculty? The Transition Acceleration Fund supports one-off projects aimed at integrating the ecological transition into all the university's activities.

Here are a few questions to help you refine your project before submitting a funding application to the Transition Acceleration Fund:

  • To which CAP2037 objective(s) is my project linked?

  • To which problem(s) specifically identified within my entity/department/faculty does my project respond?

  • How does my project contribute to sustainably reducing UNIL's environmental impact?

  • Does my project help to change certain practices in my entity/department/faculty towards greater sustainability?

  • Does my project have a positive social impact on the university community?

  • Can my project be replicated elsewhere in the university?

Funding application procedure

Can you answer these questions easily?

Here's how to apply for funding from the Transition Acceleration Fund:

  1. Complete this funding application form. Student associations and initiatives are invited to write directly to transition@unil.ch without filling in the form.

  2. For central services, obtain the approval of your department head.
For faculties, obtain the approval of the head of your unit (department, institute, etc.) or your deanship, depending on the amount requested.

  3. For requests over CHF 30,000, contact the Ecological Transition & Campus team (transition@unil.ch) to arrange a meeting to discuss the proposed co-funding.

  4. Send your funding application form and a detailed budget to transition@unil.ch.

Next steps :

  1. Evaluation by the Ecological Transition & Campus department and possible request for additional information.

  2. Evaluation by 2 experts from the Transition Unit for applications over CHF 10,000.

  3. Decision by the COPIL CAP2037 on the granting of funding.

  4. Implementation of the project and regular monitoring with the Ecological Transition & Campus department.

  5. Submission of a mini-report at the end of the project and a final report on the financial aspects.

Applicants must attest to the feasibility of their project at the level of their entity/department/faculty and ensure that it complies with the regulations in force (in particular those relating to data protection, financial powers and UNIL HR directives).

Project leaders who have received funding from the Transition Acceleration Fund undertake to submit a mini-report (2 pages) which will appear on the UNIL in Transition website. Depending on the opportunities available, project leaders will do their utmost to contribute to the dissemination and replication of their project.

Evaluation of funding applications

Applications are assessed on the basis of formal criteria that must be met and a more qualitative evaluation of the funds. On this basis, the COPIL CAP2037 decides whether or not to grant funding, also taking into account other factors such as :

  • The timeliness and relevance of the project in relation to other ongoing initiatives (potential for synergies, etc.).

  • The potential for replication across the institution and the resulting multiplier effect.

  • The overall balance between department and faculty projects and between faculties.

  • ...

The COPIL CAP2037 is responsible for prioritising the funding applications received and refusing or deferring them if the budget available for the current year is exhausted.
