CEFC seeks to become one of the most visible and influential research, training and development centers about China in Switzerland and in Europe, with focuses on economics, finance, management, biotech, medtech, pharma ventures, healthcare, and public health.
Mission
Research
- Promote world-class research on Chinese economic and business affairs; provide updated research on China’s economic development, political economy and governance; analyze the economic cooperation between China, Switzerland and other European countries.
- Establish an interdisciplinary research environment that helps Swiss and Chinese researchers in various areas such as economics, finance, management, biotech, medtech, pharma ventures, healthcare, and public health to develop joint work, and implement research results in practice.
- Facilitate the visits of Chinese researchers (professors, post-docs, PhD students) to Switzerland, and the visits of HEC and UNIL researchers to Chinese universities.
Teaching
- Provide tailor-made finance, management and economics training for Chinese companies interested in Europe or in developing their expertise in areas where HEC Lausanne has strengths.
- Provide tailor-made finance, management, economics and technology training for Swiss companies willing to invest in China.
- Develop open programs, such as Executive masters, Doctorate in Business Administration, in cooperation with Chinese leading universities.
- Facilitate the development of Bachelor/Master students’ exchange between HEC and UNIL and Chinese leading universities, as well as the organization of short field trips in China for Swiss students.
Entrepreneurship & Networking
- Facilitate the scale-up of Swiss start-ups and entrepreneurial initiatives to the Chinese market.
- Help Chinese business elites and companies expand their business in Switzerland and Europe.
- Provide support to engage the dialogue between Swiss and Chinese entrepreneurs.
Outreach
- Organize forums, event, symposium, and conferences on specific themes or specific industry sectors.
- Facilitate the dialogue between Chinese and Swiss universities, companies, authorities, economic & industry zones, financial institutions and banks.
