Research interests

My research focuses on the host-vector-parasite associations, with a particular interest in vectors’ ecology, behavior and their role in the epidemiology of a disease. The main system I work with is the avian malaria in great tits, transmitted by its mosquito vector Culex pipiens. I am also extending my interest in mosquitoes towards the survey and detection of invasive species, such as the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) or the Japanese mosquito (Aedes japonicus), which are potential vectors of human diseases. I am also involved in other projects for the study and the conservation of bat species.
Collaborations: groups of Prof. Philippe Christe and Dr. Luca Fumagalli.
