Biosafety:
This is defined by the confinement conditions under which infectious agents can be handled safely. The objective of containment is to limit biological risks and thus reduce the potential exposure of laboratory personnel, people outside the laboratory and the environment to potentially infectious agents.
It is defined by the application of knowledge, techniques, and equipment to prevent personal, laboratory and environmental exposure to potentially infectious agents or to biological risks.
