Description: In 2011, the Swiss-Asian Summer School focused on multi-level governance, in particular relations between central and local authorities and between public authorities and stakeholders. The two-week program consisted of two 5-day sessions of lectures given by renowned academics and professional experts, workshops and related visits. During these sessions, participants had the opportunity to share ideas and perspectives through workshop presentations and dialogue. For most of the Asian scholars, the Summer School provided the first occasion to discover western teaching and research in public administration in depth. The knowledge gained and the impact of the event was highly appreciated by all participants. All students and professors participating in the Summer School were invited to attend an event that took place just prior to it, the Congress of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences. The theme of the Congress was Global Issues and National Regulations.
