Description: Coming back strong after the Covid-19 pandemic, the Swiss-Asian Summer School 2023 presented an innovative format, including three distinct roles for doctoral students. First of all, they had the opportunity to present their research projects using a template specially designed for this purpose. These presentations stimulated active discussions and sparked relevant questions. Additionally, each doctoral student was paired with another in the role of designated commentator, mutually providing feedback based on their one-page reports. To ensure complete capture of comments, another student was responsible for taking notes. This setup allowed participants to engage in academic discussions with confidence, knowing that they would not be jotting down any crucial points.
As part of their preparation for the Summer School, doctoral students were invited to write a one-page document on their doctoral thesis project, including three questions that they wished to raise and for which they wished to receive support. comments. Then, they had to read about 5-6 documents written by their colleagues and prepare a 30-minute presentation on their own doctoral thesis project. Both the one-page document and the presentation served as the basis for discussions on the individual projects during the pair evaluation session, thereby informing the pairs about the content and progress of each project.
