International Investment Agreements (IIA)

UNIL LLM Student Team collaborates with UNCTAD

A team of six students enrolled in the LLM Programme in International and European Economic and Commercial Law of the University of Lausanne has successfully participated from February to May 2016 in the Mapping Project 2016/I organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The project aims to create a comprehensive database of International Investment Agreements (IIA) by categorizing more than 120 variations of their key provisions.

129 students from 20 universities in 12 different countries have participated in the exercise and mapped 580 treaties

The database is an indispensable tool for all researchers and professionals in the field of foreign investment law, most prominently those  negotiating these treaties and implementing them within their respective jurisdictions.

The current database is available at Investment Policy Hub.
