How can we ensure every child has all the opportunities to fully develop their talents, regardless of socio-economic background? How can we align school programs and curricula with the evolution of our society? How can we design policies to ensure a more equal and inclusive future?

These are some of the questions Giuseppe Sorrenti attempts to answer in his research. His work combines advances in economic theory and tools with concepts and insights from several disciplines, such as psychology and sociology. His studies focus on: (i) Deepening the understanding of the human capital accumulation process, with an emphasis on under-investigated dimensions like parenting styles, soft skills formation, and long-term outcomes; and (ii) Providing evidence-based advice to policymakers on best practices for enhancing individual development.

Prior to joining the Department of Economics at HEC Lausanne, Giuseppe earned a Ph.D. from the University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto (CCA) in 2016. He then joined the Economics Department at the University of Zurich for a three-year postdoc, before moving in January 2020 to the University of Amsterdam (UvA) as an assistant professor (tenure track) of Microeconomics.
