ECSS Lausanne 2026: Coming back to the Olympic Capital

UNIL and EPFL are delighted to announce that the 31st European College of Sport Science (ECSS) Congress will be held from 7 to 10 July 2026 in the Olympic Capital Lausanne, in the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland, under the motto of Coming back to the Olympic Capital

University of Lausanne (UNIL) and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) with Emeritus Professor Bengt Kayser (UNIL) as Congress President and Emeritus Professor Kamiar Aminian (EPFL) as Congress Co-President will host between 2,500 and 3,000 scientists for this major European sports science congress.

True to its motto, the ECSS Annual Congress heads back to the city of Lausanne after two decades and will be held at the SwissTech Convention Center, a state-of-the-art congress facility located on the edge of the beautiful lake-side UNIL-EPFL Campus.

Known as the Olympic Capital, Lausanne is renowned worldwide for hosting the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as well as over 50 international sports federations, associations, foundations and other entities involved in sports. The greater Lausanne region is also a vibrant science, technology and business hub, bringing together a multicultural and international set of academic, entrepreneurial, business and policy leaders from various scientific fields.

Key areas include engineering, with a focus on technology and innovation, biotechnology, health, medical engineering, education and research, life sciences as well as social, human and natural sciences where sport science serves as a major focus within these clusters.
