A fervent advocate of a pragmatic approach based on experimentation and the field, Esther Duflo has pioneered a new way of measuring the impact of anti-poverty policies in low-income countries, particularly in the fields of health, education and the environment.
The University of Lausanne and the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC Lausanne) are honored to welcome Esther Duflo, on April 23rd, for a conference for a conference where she will discuss the critical interaction between climate change and poverty, and the urgent need to rethink social and economic policies for a more sustainable and equitable future.
What economic tools and institutions are needed to remedy the double injustice of climate change and poverty? What role can innovation play in resolving these challenges, and how can it be encouraged? Are global market forces allies or enemies in the fight against climate change and global poverty?
The conference will be followed by a round-table discussion during which these questions will be addressed with Esther Duflo and the personalities mentioned below.
