HEC Lausanne has got talent – January 2025

For this edition, a big congratulations to:

• Xavier Castañer, professor in the Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society, who has been appointed member of the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM) Advisory Council. This worldwide federation of academic management associations has been promoting management research, teaching and practice since 1990. President of IFSAM in 2021-2022, this new nomination underlines his expertise and commitment to the academic world of management. Learn more about IFSAM

• Hrvoje Kurtovic, lecturer and researcher in the Department of Finance, who won with his co-author Christan Goulding (Auburn University) and Campbell Harvey (Duke University) a Best Paper Award for their research paper from the German Finance Association. Titled “Disagreement of Disagreement”, this paper was selected out of 95 papers accepted and 300 submitted. It features a novel non-linear measure of disagreement. Link to the paper

• Liudmila Zavolokina, Professor in the Department of Information systems, who won with her co-authors Aleksandra Garazha, Cédric Merz & Gerhard Schwabe, the Best Paper in Track and received the 2nd runner up for the best overall conference complete paper award at the International Conference on Information System (ICIS) 2024 in Bangkok. The research paper “Resilience in Times of Crisis: Empowering Refugees with Self-Sovereign Identity” was selected out of 800+ submissions and 260+ papers accepted. Link to the paper
