We are delighted to announce the launch of the Fonds Open Access Diamant, a pioneering initiative in Switzerland supported by the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire - Lausanne (BCUL) and the Bibliothèque universitaire de médecine (BiUM). Its aim is to support Open Access Diamant, a model of scientific publication free of charge for authors and readers, financed by non-commercial institutions (universities, learned societies, libraries, etc.).
The Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire - Lausanne (BCUL) and the Bibliothèque universitaire de médecine (BiUM), in partnership with the University of Lausanne (UNIL), are pleased to announce the launch of the Fonds Open Access Diamant. This innovative project aims to promote and support the Open Access Diamant model, which guarantees free and open access to scientific publications for authors and readers. Funded mainly by non-commercial institutions such as universities, learned societies, associations and libraries, Diamond Open Access represents a fair and sustainable alternative for the future of scientific publishing.
The Fonds Diamant operates on three levels: firstly, it supports international and multidisciplinary platforms, infrastructures and services that work towards the development and sustainability of Diamant; secondly, it automatically finances Diamant journals that have published UNIL, CHUV, Unisanté or HEP Vaud researchers, subject to specific criteria; thirdly, it grants funds, on an ad hoc basis and under certain conditions, to Diamant projects linked to UNIL, CHUV, Unisanté or HEP Vaud.
This initiative is fully in line with the transition to a transparent, researcher-managed scientific publishing model. It also reinforces the University of Lausanne's position as a major player in Open Science.
