The Research Center for Vocational Psychology and Career Counseling (CePCO) was founded in 2016 by Prof. Jérôme Rossier and colleagues. Its mission is to maintain the high quality of training and research in vocational and counseling psychology at the University of Lausanne.
Research focuses on counseling and vocational guidance, personality and work. The center’s main emphases are, (1) the study of individual resources and risk factors (eg, normal and pathological personality attributes) and contextual factors (eg social support) that influence occupational integration and functioning, and (2) a global understanding of career paths and dynamics.
In collaboration with the counseling department, CePCO provides training and teaching for students of the Master in Counseling and Guidance of the University of Lausanne.
The Institute of Psychology of the University of Lausanne has trained counseling psychologists and vocational guidance counselors in French-speaking Switzerland since its establishment in 1968 by Prof. Jean-Blaise Dupont (1926 - 2011). CePCO, founded in 2016 by Prof. Jérôme Rossier and colleagues, is responsible for maintaining the high quality of training and research in vocational guidance and counseling psychology at the University of Lausanne. The center currently offers the only two training courses, in French-speaking Switzerland, accredited in the field of vocational guidance by the State Secretariat for Training, Research and Innovation (SEFRI): the MSc in Counseling and Guidance and the MAS in Career Management - the latter being granted in collaboration with all universities of French-speaking Switzerland. In that sense, the CePCO is inseparable from the Vocational Counseling Center with which it helps training future counseling psychologists. The center also carries on a tradition of scientific research in the field of counseling and vocational guidance, notably the work of Professors Jean-Blaise Dupont, Francis Gendre, Jean-Pierre Dauwalder, and colleagues. It is thus integrated into a network of international collaborations and our work is published in a large number of scientific and professional journals.
The CePCO is part of a long standing tradition of excellence in research in psychology at the University of Lausanne.
