Private IT equipment

The help desk offers free IT support for your private hardware if you are a member of the university community (on a best effort, first come, first served basis: we will do our best but there is no guarantee of results). You can contact us by email, phone or simply come to our desk at the Amphimax.

UNIL IT equipment

If you have a machine in the UNIL's inventory, the help desk will come to you! You can simply contact our help desk by email or telephone and we will arrange a meeting directly at your premises on campus.

Computer equipment listed in the UNIL inventory is easily identified by a label with a number and a QR-code that points to a web page describing the physical and software characteristics of the machine:

Campus card reception & support

Located at the entrance to the Central IT services, the reception will provide you with information, direct you to the right person and let you into the secure area. It is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 12.00pm and from 12.45pm to 5.00pm.

The people at the reception will also be able to help you with basic questions about your campus card:

Supported operating systems (OS), principles

  • Supported OSes: OSes officially maintained by manufacturers (desktop: Windows, macOS; servers: Linux; smartphones: iOS, Android).
  • Release of a new OS: check that your business software is compatible and wait for one or two operating system updates. For example, wait for macOS 13.1 or macOS 13.2 before upgrading to macOS 13 (Ventura).
  • Intermediate updates: make sure you apply them regularly, so that your computer is more reliable and secure.
  • The Ci will not be obliged to provide service if these conditions are not met.
