If you are an external student

If you are an external student (ie registered in another Faculty or School of the University of Lausanne, EPFL, University of Geneva, the University of Neuchatel, etc.) and you want to follow the courses of the School of Biology, you must get our permission by sending an email to:
biologie-etudiants@unil.ch.

Your email must be received within the deadline registrations required by our school : Registration

In case of any question or problem, please contact the secretariat of the School of Biology during office hours : Monday to Friday from 9:00 am  to 11:30 am, Amphipôle building (office 312).

If you are a student of the Haute École Pédagogique (HEP)

If you are a student enrolled at the HEP-Vaud, and wish to pursue additional training in the field of biology, you must get the authorisation of the School of Biology by sending us an email at biologie-etudiants@unil.ch.

Your email request must reach us within the registration deadlines set by our School (see registrations). It should specify the courses you chose within the list of complementary credits in biology required by the HEP of the Canton of Vaud, which is available on their webpage: https://www.unil.ch/collsciences/home/menuinst/formation-denseignants/complements-de-formation.html.

A copy of the decision you received from the HEP-Vaud and proof of your enrollment at the HEP will have to complement your request.

If you are a student in mobility

You remain registered in your university and you follow the courses offered by the School of Biology. You must make yourself known to the secretariat of the School of Biology (on the site or by email at biology-exchange@unil.ch) so as to specify the courses that you have selected and to make sure that everything is in order.

If you are an auditor

Anyone over 18 years old can follow courses at the University of Lausanne as an auditor. To do this you must register at the Service des immatriculations et inscriptions by the beginning of the courses.

Auditors must obtain a permission of the School of Biology to follow courses of the first and second year of the Bachelor in Biology.
Auditors get the agreement of the School of Biology to follow courses of the third year of the Bachelor in Biology or Master courses only if the professor concerned gives his or her permission.

The School of Biology does not allow auditors:

  • To participate in laboratory practicals, exercises, seminars and field trips
  • To take exams

The registration fee for a semester is 150.- CHF and auditors do not receive any student card or certificate of registration.

If you wish to register at the University of Lausanne as an auditor, you must inform the School of Biology by email (biologie-etudiants@unil.ch) which courses you wish to follow so that we can verify that it is in order for us. Thereafter, you must send us the auditor registration form and a copy of the receipt of fee payment to certify your status.

Additional information is available on the website of the Services des immatriculations et inscriptions.

If you are an MD-PhD student

Each candidate selected by the MD-PhD Commission follows courses (Lectures, Seminars, Lab practicals) in the disciplines that prepare them for research, for a total of 25 ECTS credits.

These courses are taken either within the curriculum of the School of Medicine (Track I) or after obtaining the Master degree in Medicine (Track II) and are selected among the courses of study of the current academic year of the Bachelor in Biology or those of one of the three Masters of the School of Biology.

The PhD programme of the MD-PhD consists of a preparatory biology programme followed by doctoral studies. Students ultimately receive a Doctorate in Medicine and Science (MD-PhD).
