Academic excellence: thesis prizes winners 2023

Nine PhD graduates from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne were awarded prizes during the Annual Doctoral Event on Thursday November 23rd, 2023. The Dean’s Office warmly congratulates the researchers concerned.

The prizes 2023 were awarded to nine doctors of HEC Lausanne during the Annual Doctoral Event. This event - organised by the Doctoral School of HEC Lausanne in partnership with the PhDnet doctoral association - was introduced by a few words from Vice-Dean, Prof. Boris Nikolov, followed by a speech by a recent PhD graduate, Anely Bekbergenova.

The various prizes reward their theses for their scientific contribution and the innovative nature of their areas of research:

  • Oriana Martigny de Saint Priest, PhD in Economics, subject area Management, Prix de la Fondation Nicolas et Hélène Porphyrogenis for the thesis “Three Essays on Power and Diversity”
  • Mads Nielsen, PhD in Economics, subject area Finance, Prix de la Banque Cantonale Vaudoise for the thesis “Three Essays in Information Finance”
  • Maximilian Aigner, PhD in Business Analytics, Prix de Solidarité Confédérale for the thesis “Temporal Point Processes and Applications: A Dynamical Perspective”
  • Tyler Kleinbauer, PhD in Economics, subject area Management, Prix de Solidarité Confédérale for the thesis “Three Essays in Management: Methods, Empirics, History and Critique”
  • Coralie Jaunin, PhD in Economics, subject area Finance, Prix Charles Jean Burnens for the thesis “Three Essays in Finance”
  • Di Feng, PhD in Economics, Prix de Faculté for the thesis “Analysis of Multiple-Type Housing Markets”
  • Pavel Krasikov, PhD in Information Systems, Prix de Faculté for the thesis “Essays on External Data Sourcing”
  • Tobias Lehmann, PhD in Economics, subject area Political Economy, Prix de Faculté for the thesis “Essays in Labor Economics”
  • Dmitry Mikushin, PhD in Business Analytics, Prix de Faculté for the thesis “High-Performance Computing Approaches to Solve Large-Scale Dynamic Models in Economics and Finance”.
