Module 1 course content:
The Module 1 course consists of a theoretical part and a practical part, each comprising a minimum of 20 hours of education. The course content is adapted to the animals involved in the experiments.
Existing theoretical courses:
- A 20-hour theoretical course devoted to laboratory rodents and other laboratory animals (mainly rats and mice).
- A 14-hour theoretical course dedicated to zebrafish, plus 6 hours of "Legislation, Ethics & 3Rs" theoretical training.
- A 4-hour theory course devoted to pigs, which requires prior completion of the 20-hour "Rodents and other laboratory animals" theory course.
Existing practical courses:
- A 20-hour practical course on laboratory rodents (rats and mice).
- A 20-hour practical course on zebrafish.
- A 20-hour practical course on pigs.
- A 20-hour practical course on rabbits.
- A 40-hour theoretical and practical course devoted exclusively to local wildlife (fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles and small mammals).
Each Module 1 candidate must enroll in a theory course as well as the practical course of interest.
Only the Module 1 course for laboratory rodents is recognized by FELASA for EU functions ACD.
