The Centre

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Sport (CIRSport) of the University of Lausanne (UNIL) is a center of excellence in sport research, in particular, in CIRSport’s three strategic research areas:  (i) physical activity and health, (ii) sustainability in sport, and (iii) globalization and governance of sport.

The mission of CIRSport is to formalize a network of exchange and expertise on aspects of sport at UNIL, establish and activate this network, and promote research and expertise on sport, both within and outside UNIL.

• Attract, federate and develop research skills within UNIL on the theme of sport by creating favourable conditions for emulation between researchers (events, conferences, etc.);
• Support an inter- and intra-faculty research strategy on the theme of sport;
• Support multidisciplinary projects;
• Develop the expertise interface through continuing education and projects;
• Communicate to position UNIL as an academic benchmark in sport research by promoting structured communication with all stakeholders.

CIRSport works with scientific partners and public and private sports organisations at regional, national and international level.
