The Swiss Elite Observatory (OBELIS) organizes a biennial summer school titled “Elites, Power, and Inequalities,” open to all doctoral students interested in the study of elites. This program provides a unique opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of critical issues such as wealth inequalities, elite lifestyles, the internationalization of career paths, and the influence of social origins, race, and gender on access to and experience of positions of power.
The courses, delivered in English by OBELIS experts and international scholars, combine thematic, theoretical, and methodological dimensions. Participants also benefit from dedicated sessions to present and discuss their own research.
Recognized as a leading initiative in the field of elite studies, this program offers early-career researchers a stimulating learning environment, fostering interdisciplinary exchanges and integration into an international research network.
The third edition of Elites, Power, and Inequalities will take place in spring 2026. More information will be shared soon.
