Activities

During the course of their graduate studies, QB students are required to accumulate 12 ECTS credits required by the Doctoral School. 

• 1 ECTS mandatory new tutorial “Reviews in Quantitative Biology”
• 1 ECTS from another tutorial (recommended ones are “Reasoning and Logic in Experimental and Computational Biology”
• For students with no biological background, tutorial “Basic Biology for Non-biologists” (not available until further notice)
• 5 ECTS credits from optional thematic courses/tutorials vetted by the program (see below)
• 5 ECTS through other courses, participation to conferences, etc. Consult the list provided by the FBM doctoral school.

Note that PhD students should secure 4 ECTS by the end of the first year (including the 2 ECTS from tutorials)

• Lausanne CompBio meetings (organized three times per year)

The goal of this meeting series is to bring together researchers from UNIL, CHUV, EPFL and industry, who are active in the field of Computational and Quantitative Biology. The meetings are sponsored by the Department of Computational Biology at UNIL.

• First-year retreat of the Quantitative Biology Doctoral School

First-year students participate in a 1-day retreat to facilitate their arrival in Lausanne, to get to know their peers, and to learn from more experienced students in the program.
