This seminar series is jointly organized with the "Margins, Environment, Landscapes" collective of the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at UNIL. This collective studies human-environment interactions in the context of global changes characterized by climate change and the artificialization of ecosystems. It integrates various disciplinary approaches to understand and analyze how representations and practices of human societies emerge, reorganize, and/or interweave within the geographical margins of mountain environments, Arctic regions, and arid lands.
These marginal territories are studied from both human and environmental perspectives. The team’s research topics revolve around key concepts that emphasize the integrative and relational dimensions of environmental interactions, such as socio-ecological systems, resources, heritage, and risks.

The CIRM connects the disciplinary expertise of UNIL scientists working on mountain-related issues. To encourage collaborative work, CIRM organizes this seminar series aimed at fostering interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers. In each session, a CIRM member presents one of their research projects, adapting their discourse to an audience composed of individuals from various disciplines.
