To be enrolled, candidates must hold a Master of Science in Nursing from a Swiss university or a Swiss university of applied sciences or another university degree recognized by UNIL as equivalent and have at least two years' full-time (100%) professional experience in nursing.
In some cases, candidates may need to complete a pre-doctoral training course.

If eligible, the candidate receives a certificate that she/he must complete, sign and return to the Doctoral School for approval (Thesis Office, Quartier UNIL-Sorge, Amphipôle Building, Office n°324 CH-1015 Lausanne, 021 692 40 09).
Applications are examined by the Commission for the Doctorate in Nursing which meets twice a year, in July and January. They must be received by the IUFRS before 30 June so that they can be examined by the July Commission. Applications arriving after this date will be examined during the January session for possible start of study in the spring semester.
