Personal insights

Roxana is Assistant Professor of Finance at HEC Lausanne and a Faculty Member of the Swiss Finance Institute and a Research Affiliate of the CEPR. She studies the modern data economy and how new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, are impacting the macroeconomy and financial markets. Her research has won various prizes, including the ECB Young Economists' Competition, the Cubist Strategies Prize for Outstanding Research at the WFA, and the Sandoz Foundation - Monique de Meuron Program Fellowship for a family of projects on "The Economic Value of Big Data". Prior to HEC Lausanne, Roxana completed a Ph.D. in Business Economics at NYU, Stern School of Business in 2020, an M.Phil. in Economics at the University of Oxford, and a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics at the University of Chicago.

Summary of research areas

Roxana studies the modern data economy: in particular, how financial information technologies have changed trading strategies and financial outcomes, as well the consequences of the emergence of artificial intelligence and big data for technological growth and innovation. Roxana also works on projects quantifying the value of data for consumers, firms, and institutions.
