XXX Vis Moot – 2022/2023

30th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is one of the most prestigious international moot court competitions for law students. Taking place annually in Vienna since 1994, it gathers more than 3000 students, practitioners and academics with an objective of fostering the study of the international commercial law and arbitration.

For the 16th consecutive time, the University of Lausanne is presenting a team to the Vis Moot and will be represented this year by:

Hai Nhu Pham, Tamara Khovrina, Carmen Stetter and Derek Heath.

This year, Jonas Zaugg will coach under the supervision of Professor Andrea Bonomi.

The team benefits as well from the support and guidance of

Sergii Drug, Professor Eva Lein and Professor Karen Druckman.

The Problem of the XXX Moot regards the complex issue of the validity of an arbitration agreement when a state-owned entity (SOE) raises issues of capacity, as well as staying proceedings in light of ongoing criminal investigations. The problem also deals with the issue of whether unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) qualify as "aircraft" under the CISG and whether issues of fraudulent misrepresentation fall under the latter's scope of application.

The Moot problem can be accessed on the Moot website.
