Joan Blanco-Fernandez obtained his undergraduate degree in Biomedicine from the University of Barcelone in 2019. He then moved to Lausanne to do his master degree in Medical Biology at University of Lausanne, during which he did his Master’s thesis in Prof. Lluis Fajas group. In May 2021, he joined Prof. Alexis Jourdain group to do his PhD on macrophage immunometabolism.

Sylvain received his MSc in Medical Biology from the University of Lausanne in 2023. After finishing his master's thesis in Alexis Jourdain's lab, he joined the same lab in August 2023 as a lab technician/manager.

Marcell Harhai

Marcell Harhai obtained his degree in Medicine at the Semmelweis University of Budapest, Hungary, in 2021. After a year of clinical work in Sweden, he started his PhD in Prof. Alexis Jourdain's group in 2023, with the aim to identify novel mitochondrial disease genes.

Miriam Lisci

Miriam completed her BA in Genetics at Rutgers University (USA), and her master’s and PhD in Medical Science at the University of Cambridge (UK), where she worked with Prof. Gillian Griffiths, studying the role of mitochondria in T cells. She joined the Jourdain lab in December 2021 to explore the role of non-canonical nutrients in cancer proliferation.

Abigail Lee Strefeler

Abigail received her MSc in Life Sciences Engineering from EPFL, where she discovered a love for metabolism. Afterwards, she completed a project at the Metabolomics Platform of UNIL on sex-specific metabolic differences in Alzheimer's disease. In 2021, she joined the Jourdain lab as a doctoral assistant to explore the regulation of pyrimidine synthesis, a pathway essential for proliferating cells and intimitely linked to mitochondria.
