Maruša Novak, who works in the field of sociology of religion, completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). In her Master's thesis, she studied the dynamic interactions between religious nationalism, populism and evangelicals in the USA. After previously working as an assistant and doctoral student at the University of Ljubljana, she was accepted to a corresponding position at ISSR, where she is continuing her doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jörg Stolz. Maruša's current research focuses on the convergence of nationalism and religion, especially in the context of post-Yugoslav nations.
