Professor Suzanne Vergnolle

Suzanne Vergnolle is a Professor of Technology Law at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam Institute) where she works at the intersection of Law, Technology, and Public Policy.

Prof. Vergnolle holds a law degree from Paris X Nanterre and Bologna, an LL.M in Intellectual Property from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and a Ph.D in Data Protection Law from University Paris II Panthéon-Assas which was awarded the France-Amériques Thesis Award. She is the author of multiple papers on Data Protection Law, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Enforcement of Digital Rights, and Open Data. Prof. Vergnolle has been teaching in top French, Swiss, and American universities in topics ranging from Civil Law to Technology Law. As a Fulbright and Georges Lurcy Visiting Researcher she was a visiting researcher at Georgia Tech. She has also worked for Etalab, the French Prime Minister’s task force for access to information. At Etalab, prof. Vergnolle focused on policy shaping, law making, and coordination of France’s strategy on Open Data. Since 2015, she has been involved in multiple NGOs to improve digital rights, make governments more accountable, and empower citizens. She is also an expert for the European Data Protection Board and a Research Associate at the Artificial and Natural Intelligence Toulouse Institute.
