Practicing English Proficiency (PEP) is for students at all levels of their BA or MA programmes who would like to become more confident and proficient in English. Most PEP activities are focused on oral expression and generally being comfortable speaking English, both in classes and outside of them, but we also provide some skills-based training, e.g. presentation skills.
More information about PEP can be found here.
If you would like to practice with particular grammar features or listening comprehension, we encourage you to visit the Centre de langues, also located in the Anthropole building. They have a multimedia space (Anthropole 1060) with an extensive searchable repository of exercises (PlurieL), as well as other resources. All students enrolled in courses through the Centre de langues are welcome to use the lab during the périodes de libre accès. You can learn more about the apprentissage individuel libre here.
Another wonderful option is the Tandem program, which can be done online or in-person. Please visit their page for more details.
Students seeking an English language certificate through the university are invited to consult the Faculty's page about the Certification de compétence linguistique dans le domaine académique disciplinaire (CLAD). This language accreditation process is particularly aimed at students who would like to attend HEP after completing their degree at UNIL.
For more information about this certification, please visit the CLAD webpage.
