Preparation for the Goethe-Zertifikat C1

This Goethe Institute examination has a writing component (listening, reading, writing – testing grammatical structures and vocabulary) and a speaking section.

Learning outcomes

  • Interact spontaneously and appropriately, express one's ideas and opinions, defend one's point of view accurately and present a topic of general interest adapted for a specific audience
  • Understand both the gist and detail of relatively complex texts of general interest; extract and note down specific information from a telephone conversation
  • Read relatively complex texts for both gist and detail, highlight specific information, identify themes common to several different texts
  • Write a persuasive essay on a topic of general interest, adapting it to the target readership and demonstrating a command of the written language
  • Be familiar with certain aspects of German culture
  • Apply strategies to study and prepare for exams
