Since 2023, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mountain Research (CIRM) has made “Living well in the mountains” its central theme. To explore this important concept further, CIRM convened its members and partners for dedicated workshops on February 8 and May 28, 2024, fostering collective reflection.
“Living Well in the Mountains” is characterized by elements such as the preservation of local traditions and knowledge, the need to foster a collective awareness of mountain-related issues, addressing challenges posed by climate change, conserving biodiversity and landscapes, and developing management policies suited to mountain regions. However, this concept is dynamic and evolves with the specific territories and individuals involved. Therefore, it is essential to define this notion collaboratively with the various groups and stakeholders, considering their respective needs and aspirations.
A summary of the initial workshops exploring the concept of "Living Well in the Mountains" is now available. For more information, please contact Jeanne Fournier, Project Manager.
