Val d’Hérens 1950/2050

Val d'Hérens 1950/2050 – Lives, Images, and Practices in a Changing Territory

Launched by CIRM and the Scientific Culture and Mediation Service (SCMS) of the University of Lausanne, in collaboration with various partners, Val d'Hérens 1950/2050 – Lives, Images, and Practices in a Changing Territory is a project that combines participatory research, scientific mediation, and artistic approaches. Its aim is to help residents and researchers better understand what it means to live in the mountains in the context of climate change, organized around eight thematic areas.

Residents are invited to actively participate in this interdisciplinary inquiry. The thematic areas include topics such as economic and tourism development, landscape evolution, vegetation changes (including the upper limit of forests and heritage plants), the transmission of the auditory memory of places, and the evolution of practices like mountaineering and nature tourism.
