Language credits

HEC Lausanne awards ECTS credits for foreign languages according to the conditions set out in this directive: Conditions d’attribution de crédits de langues étrangères.

Credits can be earned for courses taken at the Language Centre (CDL), as long as they are not winter or summer intensive courses, for courses taken as part of a mobility program or for certificates outside UNIL. Please refer to the above directive for more details.

A total of 12 credits, including a maximum of six in the same language, may be awarded. These credits are entered in Module 3 of the Bachelor's program, among the free option credits.

How to validate credits

This is a two-stage process:

1. The student registers the language course (CDL) and/or certificates (awarded outside UNIL) in one of the teaching semesters (autumn or spring) or in the autumn exam session (catch-up) of the 3rd year, during the official registration periods.
2. The student must submit a copy of the language course certificate and/or test / certificate of completion by e-mail to heclangues@unil.ch, before the beginning of the examination session for which the student has registered.
