Free Mover

Important

  • The same academic conditions apply to Free Mover exchanges
  • For Bachelor students: if you have a minimum grade average of 4.2 at the end of your 2nd year, an exchange in the Spring Semester of the 3rd year is possible
  • A Free Mover exchange is an exchange that takes place outside our formal exchange agreements
  • You are responsible for handling all procedures with the chosen institution, including admission, semester fees, language requirements and housing
  • If you are selected for an exchange under an agreement but decline the offered seat, you will not be eligible for a Free Mover exchange afterwards
  • You may request a partial reduction in UNIL semester fees, please refer to the "Formulaire de demande de congé" (available below). Note that no mobility grants are available

How to prepare your Free Mover project ?

Please follow these steps:

  1. Select one (or more universities) for your Free Mover exchange, and check that they accept Free Mover students
  • Many partner universities do not accept Free Movers
  1. Prepare a Learning Agreement for each chosen institution

    • Generally, extension programs are not approved
    • Ensure that the courses you select match the level of your studies
  2. Email your chosen universities and Learning Agreements at hec.outgoing@unil.ch within the specified deadline
  3. Please allow 15 days for a reply from hec.outgoing@unil.ch
  4. Once the project has been validated, contact the chosen university and send the acceptance letter to hec.outgoing@unil.ch
  5. Complete the "Formulaire de demande de congé" (available below) to request a restricted semester leave and send it to hec.outgoing@unil.ch for signature
