Student application from partner universities

If you are registered in one of our partner universities as a Bachelor or Master regular student, you can undertake one or two exchange semesters at HEC Lausanne. Please contact the Student Exchange Office of your university for more information on the administrative procedures to be followed.

Deadlines

The Student Exchange Office of your university will nominate you as an exchange student within the deadlines indicated below through the HEC Lausanne nomination form sent by hec.incoming@unil.ch.

Formalities after the admission

After your nomination has been received by HEC Lausanne, you will receive by e-mail the link to the online application as well as information about your exchange. As soon as we receive your registration, the Social Affairs and Student Mobility Office (SASME) of UNIL will contact you for all questions related to visas, residence permits, accommodation, insurance, grants, etc.

Language requirements

You are not required to pass any language proficiency test. A minimum level of B2 according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" is expected in French and/or English depending on the language of instruction of the courses you attend.

Students from other UNIL faculties

You may take one or two courses at HEC Lausanne but most courses must be taken at the main faculty/school where you are registered.

Exchange students from other faculties must contact the Social Affairs and Student Mobility (SASME) to ask for a web access to register online for HEC Lausanne courses.

Overlapping exam
Please note that there is a risk of overlapping with the exam dates of HEC Lausanne. The exam dates scheduled by HEC Lausanne cannot be changed under any circumstances. One solution is, for example, to take an exam at the retake session.

Free Mover students (Guest students)

If you are not regularly registered in one of our partner universities, you can come and study at HEC Lausanne as a Free Mover student, on the condition that you are registered in a Faculty of Management or Economics at university level. As HEC Lausanne welcomes many exchange students from partner universities, only a small percentage of Free Mover students are accepted. A strong eliminatory selection takes place after each registration deadline.

HEC Lausanne does not accept Free Mover students from partner universities.

As a Free Mover, you cannot take courses at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) or at other UNIL faculties. You will also not receive a degree from HEC Lausanne.

Administrative Fees, in case of refusal, the registration fee of CHF 200.- is not refundable

Tuition and semester Fees 

You must submit the following documents when you register online:

  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • All transcripts from your university studies
  • Certificate from your university confirming academic recognition of a semester or year as a guest student

Your application must be received by the  Admissions Office (contact) with the deadlines. If you are accepted as a Free Mover, you must apply for a student visa yourself.

SEMP Internship at UNIL

European students can make an internship in Switzerland, even if Switzerland does not participate in Erasmus+ any more. Interns receive a scholarship financed by the Swiss government through the SEMP Programme.
