International conference organised by the Institute of geography and sustainability (IGD) of UNIL in conjunction with the Department of Geography of the University of Zurich and the Laboratory of Geographic Information Systems of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL.

Monday 30 March – Wednesday 1 April 2015, SwissTech Convention Center, EPFL

The bi-annual Joint Urban Remote Sensing Event (JURSE) is an international conference aimed at gathering the scientific community active in the observation and study of urban areas via remote sensing platforms. Such platforms can either be satellite or airborne, mounted on drones or part of terrestrial scanners. The JURSE event is a forum of discussion for academics and companies, which studies the behaviour and impact of cities through acquisition, processing and analysis of remote sensing data acquired over urban areas.

JURSE is a conference active since 1997. Since 2001, is composed of two sister workshops: the URBAN, more focused on image analysis and information extraction from images and the URS, more focused on applications of urban remote sensing to the analysis of cities. This has allowed JURSE to become a strong crossroad for all urban scientists, and to become one of the leading conferences in the field: papers on urban heat islands, modelling of cultural heritage and urban planning are presented alongside paper about the techniques used to extract relevant information form images, offering to the attending a comprehensive overview of the advances in the field.Along the three days of conference we alternate plenary talks (3 speakers) and a series of traditional oral/poster tracks on the different aspects of urban remote sensing. The final program is available at http://jurse2015.org/program/overview.

More information on the conference is at http://jurse2015.org. Registration is open through the Website.
